Ty Deri offers 10 single bedrooms and 1 transition bedroom with en suite for children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Condition and 8 en suite single bedrooms for children and young people with complex needs.
We aim to provide an external curriculum in a purpose built facility, to enjoy activities in a homely environment with their peers and provide families with respite. Respite stays may be for the evening or overnight. Pupils can also just stay for tea and activities.
We also provide a residential section in Ty Deri for children and young people who stand under the umbrella of The Autistic Spectrum Condition. It aims to provide an environment where children can be supported to develop their independence and social skills while addressing their challenging behaviour through establishing appropriate routines.
Staff give support to develop independence and social skills while addressing any challenging behaviour by establishing routines. We are supported, where appropriate, by staff based at Ysgol y Deri, such as Speech and Language, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
Respite admission is through a core assessment completed by social services. Residential admissions are through referral to the special schools admissions panel, Vale of Glamorgan Education Department.
